Carinn x OOTD: Combat

Hey dears! Sorry that I missed last week's OOTD post, I have been way too busy cramming for exams! The awesome news is, my exams have FINALLY ENDED today! It means I'm (almost) graduated.. Fingers crossed that I get good results! *crosses fingers tightly*

Here's another throwback post this week, plus some good news for you! These were taken during the previous Markets @ Jaya One, a bazaar I truly enjoyed. You can read my previous post here!

Muscle tank - H&M // Vintage distressed denim brown shorts with lace belt - Forever21 // Inner floral bralet - Forever 21 // Zebra bag - Kate Spade NY // Lace-up Army Boots - Happy2u (here) // Necklaces - Forever 21 // Twistbands - Luxola

Hair by Redken Styling

Yup, another extremely dated post. I really loved my hair here so I thought it would be a waste not to post this up! Heh #vain. Got it done from the Redken roadshow van. If only I could wake up with such pretty hair everyday!

I didn't know that the event would be indoors, so I dressed all geared-up to face the sun LOL. This is a more rugged yet casual look. Even though the outfitt may look boyish, the curled & side-braided hair, along with the floral bralet has toned down the look and added a bit of colour to an otherwise earthy colour palette. Layering necklace is always trendy and I'm glad I snagged these from the F21 sale for RM3 each! Just adjust the lengths accordingly and you can achieve the rugged look without being too sloppy.

So what do you wear for a day of shopping or bazaar-hopping (is that even a word?) ? Share with me and do let me know if you like this look! Hype me on Lookbook if you do yea? :)

If you'd like to see more, you can view my previous Carinn x OOTD post here :)

Shopping: Carousell Malaysia's First Ever Pop-Up Market @ Bangsar!

Ever since the previous Carousell Malaysia event, there have been a lot of comments from the users saying that they would love to join future Carousell events. And guess what? Carousell will be hosting their FIRST-EVER POP-UP MARKET @ Bangsar this weekend! You already know how shopping on the app is like, now you can shop the stuff you see on the app, in real life!

Come on down to Gujarati Community Hall for a day of shopping, fashion, fun, friends and free stuff!!

What to expect:
♥ More than 30 vendors selling a mixture of new and preloved apparels, accessories, vintage, thrift, handmade items, beauty products and much more!
♥ FREE vouchers from the awesome sponsors, Zalora and Worthybook!
♥ Lucky draws and great prizes to be won from Carousell and their sponsors!
♥ Goodie bags for the first 100 lucky cutomers at the door! Personalised Carousell swag, anyone?
♥ The Red Bull team will be there giving out free drinks to quench your thirst while shopping.
♥ Photobooth to snap snap snap away!
♥ Say HELLO to the Carousell team who came all the way from Singapore. They'll be there to answer any queries you have and guide you on how to set up your very own Carousell account!

Carousell is all about saving the Earth so you are encouraged to bring your own recycle bags on that day to stash your loots in. Alternatively, you can opt to purchase this limited edition Carousell tote bag for only RM25! Only 100 pieces available :D

Carousell's Blogger friends will be setting up booths at the bazaar too! Come by their booths and get great deals on their brand new and preloved items, or maybe even snap a picture with your fave blogger!

Ahem.. Yours truly will also be joining in the fun! It's my first time having a booth at a bazaar and I know I'm not some famous blogger or anything but I was so amazed when Reshma made me this poster hehe.

I'll be selling my preloved and brand new items, ranging from clothes to beauty products to shoes, bags, hats and accessories. Preloved means I've worn these clothes less than 3 times because as you know, I have a bursting wardrobe. I also have brand new clothes to sell off too because some were impulse buys and some are just too bit for petite me. Well, my loss, your gain! I'll be sharing a booth with another blogger friend, Audrey (booth no.9) and we'll be upstairs. So come and say hi! We'll really appreciate it :)

Here's a sneak peak of what I'll be selling! Nothing over RM25, I promise!
In the midst of studying for exam, I finally found some time to sort out my items, iron and tag them with prices. tags. One luggageful for a 2-day bazaar isn't really much, right?

The caged bralet is trending now and I got this one which is tagged size S but I'm sure could fit an M or L size. Any takers?

Some pretty prints from my tops, dresses and skirts!

Fedoras froom H&M and Aldo.

Vintage bags.

I've only worn this pair of shoes twice and it's really too big for me. It's tagged size 35 but feels more like a 36. My friends said that it's a nice pair of platform wedges, but just too big for me. Sadly, I'll have to part with it but it won't be priced more than RM50! Any takers too? :p

If you seen anything you like from here or my Carousell profile (@carerynn), you can PM me first to reserve it and pay on that day! If not, don't forget to drop by my booth on Saturday and Sunday as I'll be there on both days. Chat with me a little, I might give you a discount? :p Most of my stuff are suitable for petite girls, so come and steal my wardrobe! Haha. Don't worry though, like I said, I have a lot of oversized clothes so anyone can find something they'd like, really :)

Ending off with a map of the place, in case you can't find it. It is situated near McDonalds' Telawi Bangsar and I'm sure you can find it if you key in the address and Waze there! The venue is so centralised for both KL and PJ people so I hope more people will come yea?
Mark your calendars and spread the word to your family and friends! We hope the Pop-Up Market will be a success and that we will be able to organise more events like these in the future. Even if you're not a fan of bazaars, you can always pop by to say hi and soak in the excitement! See you there!

Carousell Pop-Up Market
Date: 8 - 9 November 2014
Time: 10am - 6pm
Venue: Gujarati Community Hall / GAWPS SAMAJ,
No. 38, Lorong Maarof,
Bangsar Park, KL.
RAIN OR SHINE, FREE TO ATTEND

proPassion, a student PR Consultancy of Taylor's University, is collaborating with Kyanite TV (founded by Michael Lim & JoJo Struys) and Big Fish Media to organise the "Be The Next ChiChi & ChaCha Star", a star search for kids and teens aged between 6 - 18 years old, to perform LIVE with the hosts of ChiChi & ChaCha in 2015!

ChiChi & ChaCha (CC2) is a children's programme featuring five teenage celebrity hosts and 3D animated characters who educate kindergarten and early primary school kids through song, dance, story time, arts & craft and interacive problem solving. It is aired for 30-minutes every Saturday at 10.30am and three times a day, every Monday to Friday on Astro Ceria (Channel 611) and Astro MayaHD (Channel 135).

My readers may not be that young, so I hope y'all can spread the word to your younger siblings or cousins yea? The event will be held on 15 - 16th November 2014 at The Main Place, USJ 21, to find the most talented boy and girl who will walk away with RM100 cash EACH, be featured on YouTube and be able to join the 2014 tour with ChiChi & ChaCha celebrity hosts!!

Sounds fun? In case you're wondering, these are your energetic hosts - Sweet, Afeiq, Farisha, Leen and Harris!

Both winners will be invited to train, choreograph and perform with the five hosts - to unlock and refine their future potential. Who knows if you might be the future Siti Nurhaliza or Lisa Surihani of the Malaysian industry right? This platform is a good opportunity for you to shine!

To join, interested parties below 18 years old can upload their audition videos by 6th November 2014. The steps are as below, they're all pretty simple!

4) Tag one of your favourite hosts (@fqisminaa, @afeiq, @farisha_iris, @jazashazleen, @harrisalif) and @chichidanchacha.

AND THAT'S IT!

30 participants will be selected for the Challenge Round on 15th November where they will be given 90 seconds to showcase their talents. Yea, it seems like very little time but this is a competition after all! From these 30, the Top 10 will be selected to proceed to the GRAND FINALS on 16th November. They will be tested based on 3Ps - Performance, Potential and Personality. All finalists will be given a maximum of 4 minutes to showcase their talents and dance to CC2 songs. Just think.. In less than 2 weeks you might become the next star on a hit TV show! How fun is that?

Here are some Behind The Scenes photos during the CC2 shoot. Looks like your thing?

There is also a special Nominating Contest where the nominee can win prizes as well! The nominator have to nominate ONE talented person around them and showcase that person's talent within 15 seconds of less. Should the nominees be selected as a finalist on the Challenge Round, he or she will win RM100 in cash and a free autographed ChiChi & ChaCha T-shirt!
Hint hint, elder brothers and sistes, maybe you'd like to nominate your younger siblings now?

Wishing all participants BEST OF LUCK and hope that your dream of becoming a STAR will come true!

Beauty (HiShop Review Campaign Part 2): Skin Talk Korea White Touch Plus

Continuing from the previous Skin Talk review (read it here!), here is another post on yet another product from them. Every girl dreams of having fair, smooth skin right? Well, this is the product for you if you want to look fairer instantly!

Skin Talk White Touch Plus is suitable for everyone, regardless of skin type, gender or age. It is the solution for people who are concerned about dull, lack-lustre or darker skin or those who want to have radiant skin.

I've been seeing this tag on many products lately. Is this a new technology? The sticker peels off to reveal a design on the sticky part and is actually a safer way of determining the product's authenticity as there is no way of putting the sticker back exactly to its original form.

It comes in a simple squeeze tube and dispenses white cream from the nozzle. The cream leaves a white cast on the skin once you rub it in and smells of jasmine flowers to me!

Why Skin Talk White Touch Plus?
The product promises to light up the skin with radiance as soon as it is applied. I swatched it on my hand and you can see that it has changed from a creamy texture to a milky colour. This will help brighten the skin tone for people who want an immediate whitening effect. The whitening effect is said to last for 12 hours! As a triple-performance product, it also has the function of concealing your pores, improving the appearance of wrinkles and provide continuous whitening effect. The product also contains SPF35 PA+++ to block off ultraviolet rays and makes it a good substitute for sunscreen or makeup base. Cleansing is easy and the main ingredients (vitamins A, B. E and hyaluronsan) supplies nutrients and moisturises the skin.

How and when should you use the Skin Talk White Plus?
It is said to be applied in the last stage of the basics in this order
Cleansing > Toner > Essence/ Serum > Lotion > Cream > White Touch Plus

Well, I personally feel that I am fair enough and if I go any fairer, I will look pale as a ghost. So since Halloween has only recently passed, I have found another use for White Touch Plus! My housemate, Eunice, sought my help to do her Halloween makeup for a party. Since I had no white face paint, I used the White Touch Plus instead!

See how much fairer she became after applying the product! I applied an even layer all over her face with clean fingers but if you are concerned about hygiene, it is advisable to use a makeup sponge instead.

Boo! Final result for her witch makeup. She looks pretty pale right? According to Eunice, the makeup stayed on all night and her skin feels moisturised, which means that this whitening cream is not drying at all.  I'm amazed how opague the texture of Skin Talk White Touch Plus is and that it does not blend in to suit the normal skin colour even after a few hours. Even though the texture is quite thick, it is still easily blendable. The cream is also easy to remove with makeup remover or mild cleanser. It's really the perfect temporary solution for people who are looking to be fairer! However, I would not suggest it for girls who are already fair to begin with, unless you want to look pale and sickly.

Price-wise, it is still unknown as this brand has not been launched in the market but I guess the product should be worth around RM20 - RM30? I personally would not pay that kind of price for a temporary whitening solution that I do not need but I know that other whitening products in the market cost way more. Even if I wouldn't purchase it, I'm sure there are other people out there who would appreciate an affordable yet effective product like this!

Beauty (HiShop Review Campaign Part 1): Skin Talk Snow Flower Cleanser & Snow Flower Toner

Happy November, guys! It's almost the end of the year! :o

I was recently contacted by The Fabulous HiTeam to try out an exclusive beauty brand, Skin Talk. This brand has yet to be launched on the market so I'm kind of like one of the pioneers? Feels kinda cool being you guys' guinea pig at the same time :p Since there are almost no information about this product on the Internet, I will try my best to write down what I've experienced from the 2 weeks of using this range of products!

Wanna know what goodies did I get in this big pink box?

Skin Talk Snow Flower Cleanser

Skin Talk Snow Flower Cleanser uses a Special Ice Care technology to provide instant relief and soothes the skin once cleansed. The instructions are in Korean so sadly, I cannot really tell you what other benefits this product promises. It contains green tea extract, glacial water and ash extract for brightening and has anti-oxidant properties. This product is suitable for all skin types.

It looks just like an aerosol spray. I was quite surprised at the packaging. The nozzle resemble is the spray kind that most hairsprays use. It is quite easy to operate.

What??? I got the shock of my life the first time I sprayed the cleanser. Cold gas comes out first before it dispenses these white dense bits. The most amazing part is when you touch it, it feels EXACTLY like snow! It's also icy COLD! The particles also melts in the warmth of your hand after a few seconds, just like snow! Guess we know where the name of the product comes from now then.

On my second try, I shook the can and the snow particles sort of disappeared. It then came out in the form of soft white mousse or foam, like meringue which has been well and properly-whipped with stiff peaks.

Disclaimer before we start the review and I scare you with my bare face. This is when I have minimal makeup on, just barely enough foundation to cover up my blemishes and dull skin. I guess you could say this is one of the worst conditions my skin has been in because of exam stress, unhealthy snacking, period and irregular sleeping patterns. Right now, no amount of skincare products can help me because I have not been getting enough rest. Hopefully, my skin condition will improve after exams and I can then update you all on the results of using Skin Talk products when my skin is happy!

Directions to use:
Squeeze a tiny amount on the palm of your hand, just like how you would use normal face wash. Rub a little on the face. Contrary to normal foam wash, the foam builds up as you wash your face but as this one dispenses as a foam directly, the foam kind of disappears once it comes into contact with water, leaving a soapy feeling. Once you're done, rinse off thoroughly with water or wipe off with a clean facial cotton.

Likes: After using, the cleanser leaves a very smooth feeling on the skin. Makeup can been removed quite effectively and does not leave much residue when I use a toner after that. My skin feels squeaky clean and it means that all the oil on your face has been stripped off. The smell is very pleasant and fresh. The freezing effect can make your face feel slightly numb but it is good for waking up the skin!

Dislikes: It is not easy to control the amount of cleanser you squeeze out because of the aerosol method. Sometimes even after I shake up the can, cold air and icy particles comes out but most of the time, only the foam is dispensed. I can't seem to figure out what causes this to occur. Also, the cleanser can be quite drying so I would only recommend it for people with oily skin as it tends to dry out the skin after washing.

Skin Talk Snow Flower Toner

Skin Talk Snow Flower Toner is made with glacial water and green tea extract. It also uses the Special Ice Care technology and is perfectly paired with the Snow Flower Cleanser. It is also icy cold when applied to the skin and this chilling and freezing sensation acts as a moisturising effect. It is also suitable for all skin types. Just like the cleanser, the toner also comes in an aerosol can, in a lighter blue shade and snowflakes pattern. Looks like a perfect Christmas gift, huh?

The toner comes with a aerosol pump too that is quite hard to control as the spray usually goes everywhere once I press down on the nozzle.

The product comes out as tiny foams at first then slowly evaporates to become a liquid.

After shaking up the can, I sprayed it again and the foam started building up on the palm of my hand. Really weird sensation!
Directions to use;
After cleansing your face, squeeze a little of the Snow Flower Toner on a facial cotton pad. It is not advisable to squeeze it on the palm of your hand or directly on your face as the product evaporates quite quickly and it is harder to control the amount to use that way.

Gently rub it on your face and leave it for a few seconds. You will feel a chilling effect on your face.

Likes: The toner is really gentle and does not stimulate the skin. It also smells pleasant, like flowers. It's also quite fun to use because really, have you seen a toner in an aerosol spray can before?

Dislikes: It can be quite messy to use if you do not use a cotton pad as the spray is hard to control the amount needed.

I swear these has got to be the most innovative and unique products I've tried before! I've had so much fun experimenting these products but it took me quite awhile to think what to write because they are not on the market yet. So far, I don't see very significant effects from using this range but I will continue using it to see if my skin condition will improve. I think they would be value for money even if you were to gift it because the packaging itself is interesting and quirky enough to grab attention already! I guess these two product should cost about RM45 - RM60? Both are 150ml bottles which can last quite a long time as you only need a tiny amount for each use.

Thank you for reading and if you're interested to purchase the product, remember to stalk HiShop's website, Facebook and other social media on the announcment on when this brand will be released in the market!
