Beauty: Too Cool For School Milk Tint

After the recent hype and changes in my life, it's time to settle down for a bit. It seems like it's been a while since my last makeup post, so here's one! Candy & makeup - seems like the best combination ever to me! Can you believe that for a makeup junkie like me, this is the first time I'm using a lip & cheek tint?

These Too Cool For School Milk Tint are an interesting form of tints. Normally, most tints come in the form of almost dye-like, liquid. Essentially, a tint does what it says - the colour stays behind and tints your lips/ skin. It stains the lip slightly and does not have much gloss or shine. Some lip tints double up as a blusher as well, since it's not glossy and gives a long-lasting blush. The Too Cool For School Milk Tint is from Korea and TCFS is actually a trendy contemporary art cosmetic brand that targets young & fun consumers. I love their range of products with creative names & creative uses! But I digress.

Since the label and printing at the back and bottom of the box are stated in Korean, I had to rely on my Googling Skills to find out what they are. Apparently it says, 'Gives a glossy lip look without lip gloss. Milk content softens dry lips. Sweet scent and natural colour expresses soft-looking lips." Something along those lines lah haha.

The tint comes with a doe-foot applicator which is flat and quite stiff. You can flip both sides of the applicator to use. It picks up quite a bit of product per dip though, as you can see. The Milky Orange tint has an orange-coloured applicator while the Milky Pink has a neon pink one.

I know I've said previously that most tints are not glossy but these Too Cool For School Milk Tint actually gives off a mild glossy finish. As promised, it has a milky & pastel colour payoff. One swipe was too light so my swatch here shows a thicker application of the tints. By the way, the first thing I noticed was the scent! Super love one <3 FYI, other colours available in this range are Milky Red & Milky Lavendar, which I'd so love to try if it smells as great!

   #01 Milky Pink

The first thing that came to mind when I got this Too Cool For School #01 Milky Pink Milk Tint was strawberry milk. It even has a tiny milk bottle on the front! Both the tints have similar designs and the bottle is really tiny, only 4.8ml! What a cutie. I love how it glides on smoothly, like milk (!), on my lips. The applicator is really easy to use indeed. The formula smells strongly like Pocky Strawberry Sticks in a non-nauseating way, and I love it! Delicious smell which doesn't fade off fast, but there is no taste to it.

Like any lip product, it is socially acceptable to use it as a blush. Same goes to this Milk Tint, even though there is some glossiness to it. But then again, it's gives off a bright glow to your skin! Some people might think it's quite unhygienic to directly apply the tint with the applicator so what I usually do is dab a few drops on my pointer finger before patting & rubbing it gently onto my cheeks for a healthy, natural flush :D
Tip: A little goes a long way. 1 to 2 drops is enough if you don't want to end up looking like a clown.

Here's how it looks like in photos - a subtle, bright pink that makes you look sweet and more awake! The subtle pink on the cheeks also make it seem like you're blushing.

   #02 Milky Orange

The Too Cool For School Milky Orange Milk Tint on the other hand, adds some fun and freshness to your look. I think orange is a good colour that complements fair-skinned people. I'd advise you to step out of your comfort zone and play with orange! Honestly, unlike the pastel orange swatch on the back of my hand, is not obvious on the lips at all. Instead, it just looks like it restored and improved my natural lips colour. Since the orange is not too obvious, definitely do try this out! The scent for Milky Orange is sadly not as impressionable as the pink one, but still has a pleasant milky scent to it.

Here's a comparison of how the tints look like on the lips with one swipe. I realised that on camera, the colour does not show up much, especially the orange one. Both colours seem pretty similar to me. Give it some time for the colour to settle in too before it looks more pigmented. The tint is definitely buildable so add on more layers as you prefer. While the Milk Tint does not cover up the lip lines, it functions as a lip balm and does make my lips appear smoother, softer and more natural.

What I love:
- Cute packaging
- Natural finishing, not too artificial nor glossy-looking
- Moisturising - the milk formula really does what it says and softens the lips!
- Stays on for a good 4-5 hours, without eating or drinking
- Lovely scent! Can't get enough of the strawberry one LOL

What I don't:
- Colour payoff is not that pigmented, needs a few layers for it to appear
- Both colours look alike

  3. That's how I usually do too. Although some people advice me to use a separate lip brush instead. Couldn't get out of that habit just yet :)
