Let's talk about something that everyone loves - FOOD! Hands up if you love desserts :) I was recently introduced to Anchor Say Cheese Campaign 2016, the 2nd phase of an exciting campaign by Anchor Food Professionals, that is all about about "Connecting with Loved Ones" during the festive seasons. If you love cream cheese and other sweet baked goods, check out what goodies this campaign has to offer!
The launch of this 2nd collection of breads and desserts couldn't have come at a better time, with the Hari Raya mood still going strong, so these desserts are great for Malaysians who wish to bring gifts and spend quality time with their loved ones. This campaign, a first of it's kind in the market, was designed to bring Anchor to more people in an experiential way. There are 2 bread and 2 cakes which are more European-themed in this collection. They are all limited-edition, and made with delicious Anchor-branded key ingredients such as Anchor Cream Cheese, Anchor Culinary Cream, Anchor Butter and Anchor Milk. Through this initiative, Anchor hopes to let more people savour the taste of their scrumptious desserts with a consistent taste of quality that they are known for.
A brief introduction into Fonterra Food Services before we delve deeper into the signature creations. Fonterra is New Zealand's largest company and a global leader in dairy nutrition, some of the brands that you may be familiar with from them are Anchor, Anmum, Anlene and Fernleaf. This is their 40th anniversary in Malaysia, and I can proudly say that I practically grew up consuming food from all these brands! Under the Anchor Brand, there are a full range of dairy products, making them the market leader and the brand of choice for many professional chefs. Their products are made from fresh milk from free ranging cows that are fed with grass throughout the year, hence giving you the pure, delicious taste of dairy. Anchor is also the preferred supplier of dairy ingredients in many of the world's leading food companies and in Foodservice Channels.
First Love | RM3.30
First up on the dessert list is this sweet bread called First Love. This soft bread has an interesting exterior whereby it is sprinkled with brown sugar which is not only healthier, but gives it that extra crunch and sweetness. The filling inside is yummy cream cheese that can be consumed both chilled and at room temperature. The reason the bread was given its name was because at first bite, it hopes to give you the feeling you get when you experience love for the first time - sweet and lovely. I liked that the exterior kinda resembles a polo bun because of the crunchiness and that the overall taste is creamy and not too sweet.
Lady Marmalade | RM3.30
Yup, this was named after Christina Aguilera's famous song as it makes you feel like dancing. :p This bread is similar to First Love, but not as basic because it is filled with ORANGE cream cheese filling, topped with orange candied peel! The orange peel that was simmered in sugarcan indeed be eaten, and there are even orange bits inside the bread. No flavouring was used, only the freshest orange infused to give you that natural taste. In fact, Mr Chan of Veluxe Cake House has added more orange to make it smell and taste better. I'm not a fan of orange-flavoured food, but this was a surprisingly refreshing bread that I can accept!
Almond Rosa | RM6.50
Almond Rosa is a soft classic almond butter sponge cake with a nutty taste, and layered with cream cheese. This isn't your regular sponge cake, as it's more dense and compact, so it has more texture. The almond powder used kind of reminds me of macarons! The combination with cream cheese is great, as the smooth cream cheese layer is not too thick so it doesn't overpower the taste of the cake. Again, no flavouring whatsoever is added so all you're getting is the soothing fragrance of Anchor milk. The nutty taste really takes away the sweetness and 'jelak' feeling when eating cake for me, thumbs up! Also, did you realise that the cake seems to be smaller than most cake sold in stores? The packaging and size is designed this way so that it makes consumption on the go much easier and less messy. It's something unique to gift your guests too as party favour or what not!
Cheeznie | RM6.50
This cake has a generous cream cheese layer baked between two delectable layers of chocolate walnut brownie. So as you can probably guess, the name is a combination of brownie + cheese, hehe. Surprisingly, the decadent taste of chocolate isn't covered by the cream cheese, but rather enhanced instead. One interesting thing to note is that the chocolate used has to have at least 55% and above of cocoa content, which made me fall in love with this dessert. The dark chocolate gives it that bittersweet taste and is perfectly complimented by the tanginess of the cream cheese. All the cream cheese in this series have added lemon to it to further enhance their fragrance. The texture of the brownie is made even better with extra chunks of chocolate and fresh walnut, yum!
You can find all these desserts at Veluxe Cake House and selected bakeries from now until December 2016. Anchor might consider keeping these desserts permanently if they receive great feedback from their customers, so fingers crossed that they'll keep them! Oh yea, did I mention that with every purchase of 2 boxes of Anchor signature desserts, you can receive this limite edition Anchor spoon? The heart-shaped spoons are totally cute!

You must be wondering why are these desserts only available in a few outlets. This is because Anchor believes in quality-control so they have carefully hand-picked these quality bakeries to carry their products. The bakers at each location usually follow the recipe and training given by Anchor, but are allowed to tweak it according to their customers' preference and skill set. Ending with our group photo of the day! I find this campaign so interesting and it has probably never been done before by any other brands in Malaysia. While it may seem troublesome as you can only find these desserts in certain places, it does give that sense of exclusivity and uniqueness once you try them. After all, we Malaysians love travelling to find good food, so this should be right up your alley! :P
