Are you the Next MFP Blogger?
After 80+ posts, I realise that I have not formally introduced myself to my readers. Some of you may, or may not know me personally. I know some of my friends and family do read my blog and I feel thankful for their support. But sometimes I wonder, I am just an average girl. Not a super professional or famous blogger, not super pretty or slim and not even the best writer around. But what keeps my readers around?
Thanks to Huiying, I got to know about the Next MFP Blogger Contest by Myfatpocket and decided to try my luck. Thanks to MFP for organising this to recognise efforts of new bloggers like me! Contest ends on 7th May so you can join now too if you want! The Next MFP Blogger will be able to blog for Myfatpocket and aside from getting amazing sponsors, the winner will win an exclusive invitation to Mrs Singapore 2014 Finals on 10th May, a $500 facial treatment voucher and a Fresver tote bag. Even if I don't win, at least you know a little about me now, right? :p
Hi. My name is Carinn Tan. My close friends call me Rinn. Online, my name on social media is usually @carerynn because if you're observant enough, you'll know that it's actually the real pronounciation of my name; CARE-RINN. Most of my friends call me KER-RINN, but I guess I'm fine with that too.. :)
I am a lifestyle and fashion blogger. I started my blog in July 2013 and even though I am a relatively new blogger, I am truly blessed and thankful for all my sponsors and readers. The reason why I started this blog was to share my thought and recommendations with the people around me who always seek advice like, "What skincare do you think is best?"
"Have you tried *insert brand or product* before?"
"I love your skirt, where did you get it?"
I admit, I am a shopaholic. I just can't resist pretty and affordable things! Clothes are my biggest weakness. So are accessories, skincare and cosmetics. Then I thought, why not document my thoughts so that everyone can get their information here? Don't worry though, you can still approach me personally via message or email and I'll be happy to answer your questions, if I am able to help!
I officially turned 21 on February 6th and you can read about my birthday party here. Being 21 means I'm officially an adult but frankly, I still look and feel like a
kid inside and out. I am from Johor Bahru but am currently pursuing my studies in Bachelor of Business, Marketing & International Trade in Victoria University, Sunway Campus. I am also the Head of PR/ Events of the Victoria University Business Club which is sort of like the student council in my course. As busy as it gets, I am really enjoying my study life because as they say, your schooling years are the best years of your life. Couldn't agree more!
I'm also currently working part time for Carousell, a buy-and-sell app based in Singapore. By having a part-time job, I guess I can help ease my parents' burden a little and earn my own keep to um, shop or eat. XD Basically, my job as Head of PR for VUBC and Community Manager of Carousell Malaysia is to handle the social medias and keep in touch with users. I guess that's why I'd like to hold a job in Social Media Marketing when I graduate. I'm definitely a social media addict, you'll always see me with my phone and on the net 24/7 :p
Not saying that's a bad thing, but it's just one of the things I'm good at and that I fancy..
If you ask me, how do I manage my time between studies, assignments, meetings, VUBC, work and blogging, I honestly don't know how to answer you as I don't have the best time management skills ever. But I enjoy a challenge and these are training me to manage my time and my priorities better. I do try to discipline myself to complete everything before the deadline because it's my responsibility. On top of that I have to make time for my family, boyfriend and hanging out with friends. Life is only meaningful when it's filled with activities eh?
Speaking of friends and family, I really love these important people in my life! They are the ones who shaped me to become who I am. Be it good or bad advice, I will take them with an open mind. I'm not perfect; I can be lazy, bad-tempered, emotional and loud, but they listen and love me all the same. I have to thank my boyfriend too, who is ever supportive of everything that I do. What would I do without them? :')
Some of the things that I frequently blog about include.........
Skincare and cosmetics are my current obsession. I used to love nail polish and do nail art frequently too but not so much lately. Besides that, I also talk about other beauty products, from hair to eyelashes even. Ok so I admit I'm not very good at makeup and do not fancy heavy makeups, but of course I do have the basic knowledge. For girls who are beginners, I guess you would find my makeup tips relatable? Also, I do not have perfect skin but I do know a thing or two about the affordable and reliable brands, so you can talk to me if you need help with skincare! Hmm, but of course, what suits me may not suit you and vice versa...
I mean, who doesn't love food? I may be small, but don't be mistaken and think that I have a small appetite. It's just that, I eat a little slower than most XD I love exploring new cafes, restaurants or even hawker centres. Hey, who said good food only has to be lavish and grand to make you happy? I consider myself an expert in food around JB as Johor Bahru is a small
boring town where the food is our pride and joy. You can read my post here on what to do around JB and you'll actually be surprised to know that there's more than meets the eye! I stalk Instagram and Facebook frequently, so you know I'm kinda up-to-date on new places to go to or eat in JB lah... XD
Admittedly, I haven't attended that many events throughout my blogging journey, except the IMAX Launch, FURLA Candy Brissima Tour and Malaysia Clothes Buffet, but I'm liking it so far! One of the reasons why I don't attend many is because a) I don't have a car in KL, b) I can't drive even if I did XD and c) there are hardly any event opportunities in JB :/ So yea, that's why I'm super thankful for all the people who drive me around in KL and JB cos I can't do so myself LOL. But if you still wanna invite me for events or reviews, feel free to do so and I'll try my best to attend if time permits. Hey, I take public transport alone all the time in KL so I guess it shouldn't be a problem!
This photo so aptly describes me I can't even.... Yes, I shop a lot. But what if I told you, most of my clothes don't cost more than RM50? I can spot trends and brands easily, and sometimes it's quite scary that I can decipher the price and brand of what someone is wearing easily LOLOL. Don't laugh, it takes skills ok! I have a soft spot for my fave four-letter word.. .SALE. So if you wanna know where to get the most affordable stuff or the latest sale, feel free to ask me :)
And last but not least.....
I am really petite..
Please don't ask me my height, I'm just really short... So I guess that's one factor which encouraged me to dress up. I don't have a specific style; I'm pretty flexible when it comes to dressing. I have a keen eye for fashion trends and styles, but I don't always have the funds to keep up with fashion LOL. Wouldn't it be great to have a huge wardrobe that is already paid for? *daydreams* So what I do is I improvise. Sometimes my looks turn out insta-worthy (I post lots of #ootd on my Instagram!) and sometimes they're not. Basically it's just mixing and matching according to my feelings and if I feel that it fits, I'll wear it out. Accessories are essential and makes a big difference to your outfit. Big thanks to my bf and friends or sister who always helps me to take my OOTD shots! Hmm, I need to learn some new poses. Recently I just signed up for a Lookbook account and omg the fashion posts there are so inspiring! Oh yeah, do HYPE or FAN me if you're on Lookbook too? :) One of my dreams is to model for a blogshop or store although I know I'm too short to, but a girl can dream, can't she? :)
I believe in giving unedited, honest reviews so that I do not disappoint my readers, and I hope that you trust me enough, that's why you read my blog.. Sometimes I tend to write too much because I just have so much to share with you! I am constantly trying my best to improve my writing, photography and photo-editing skills to keep my readers interested. I love blogging, it really helps me destress and share my thoughts with the world. I also love that I got to meet so many new friends on this journey! :D
They say big things come in small sizes. Why did I name my blog 'extraordinarinn'? It just hit me at that time. I am just a normal girl, but I aim to be different and not follow the norm all the time... To be extraordinary. It's a place to let you read my mind and learn a little bit about what I'm thinking.
So the answer to my question of what keeps my readers interested in my blog, is that I am regular girl just like them, but they feel that I am relatable in some ways. A small girl, who packs a big punch!
Just wanna say, thank you very much for reading and following my blog and social medias all these while. I really appreciate the support and love! <3
And because I love you all so much, here's a special treat just for my readers! Fresver Beauty is having some promotional packages for readers!
