Beauty: A'Bloom by Althea

The one beauty brand that everyone has been raving about lately about its price and effectiveness is A'bloom by Althea! A'bloom is its own brand under Althea Exclusives that has a different aesthetic from the Althea Collection products, but still manages to maintain the affordable price point that everyone loves so much. Under Althea Angels, I was sent the Refreshing Skin Mask Pack, Meringue Puffs and the BHA Blackhead Buster. I've tried on all the products and will be sharing my thoughts on them, let's jump right into it!

   A'bloom Refreshing Skin Mask Pack
When these masks launched on 23rd April, everyone basically went crazy because they were so, SO affordable! I mean, RM60 for 80 pieces of masks? That's less than RM1 per piece! Too bad the deal is over now, hope the rest of you managed to stock up on it. Anyway, the A'bloom Refreshing Skin Mask Pack comes in 4 fruity flavours, each with a different custom care solution for the skin. They all have strong antioxidant cos of the natural fruits and plants extracts used. The pH balancing effect helps to strengthen the skin barrier as well as recharge the skin with fresh new energy. Not to mention, each packaging name and design is super cute too!

- Water-Me-Long Moisturising Watermelon Mask (individual or set) - contains natural aminoic acid called Citrulin and Betain that forms a natural moisturising and hydrating membrane on the skin, leaving it soft and smooth even on the hottest days. The mask also contains lavender extract to soothe sensitive skin and reduce dullness.
- Ac-Me-Peach AC Control Anti-Blemish Peach Mask (individual or set) - contains vitamin A retinol components to normalise skin turnover cycle by preventing troubles and removing dead skin cells, as well as control the oil and water balance of the skin. It also contains tea tree extract to help sterilise and reduce pores and trouble spots.
- Avo-Cuddle-Me Nourishing Avocado Mask (individual or set) - known as the "butter of the forest", avocado is a superfruit contains rich protein to prevent aging and provide strong vitamin E tocopherol antioxidant. The added hibiscus flower extract that contains Antocyanin is also an antioxidant to fight aging. It has excellent absorption of skin-friendly unsaturated fatty acid to provide shine and elasticity to the skin.
- Sparkle-Me-Bright Brightening Lemon Lime Mask (individual or set) - the high vitamin C content in citrus fruits help repair and protect the skin from UV damage by inhibiting melanin production and providing clean & clear skin. The mask also contains green tea extract, an antioxidant to control melanin production. It is said that your skin will instantly become fairer and whiter after usage.

As you can see, the mask sheets are made out of 100% natural eco-friendly fabric that is quite thin to effectively deliver the efficacy of the rich fruit essences. It is worthy to note that the essences are formulated with reduced viscosity but are similar to those that you would find in creams. All their masks have a cooling, refreshing effect with a gentle citrus scent. Because of the thinness and natural wood extract, it has great adhesion and excellent absorption to deliver efficacy of ingredients deep into the skin to keep you moisurised throughout the day. The one I'm using here is the Ac-Me Peach Anti-Blemish Mask Sheet to help combat the acne breakout that I've been facing. I gotta say this has to be my favourite mask variant so far cos it perfectly suits my skin condition and has a lovely subtle peach scent! In just 10-20 minutes, my skin feels so refreshed and not sticky and also, there's A LOT of essence leftover! You can basically rub it all over your body for that extra boost. For the price paid, this mask is definitely worth trying.

   A'bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster
There's now a solution for all of y'all who face issue with blackheads and whiteheads. The A'bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster is a quick and easy triple treatment for blackheads, whiteheads and dead skin which you can use daily. It contains natural BHA ingredient to gently deep cleanse the pores. The added apricot seed powder helps to exfoliate and remove excessive sebum, charcoal (that gives it the black colour) absorbs dirt in the pores, while tea tree leaf oil helps to soothe the skin and prevent any redness or irritations. The fact that this comes in a travel-sized stick is so convenient and I had high hopes on this product.

To use, all you gotta do is dampen the skin, apply the stick directly on the targeted areas (for me, it's my nose and chin area which is riddled with blackheads and whiteheads), and massage in circular motion. After about 30 seconds, you can rinse the product off with water. I've been using this stick about twice a week. Not sure if it's because of the frequency, but I personally don't find that the stick works that well to remove my blackheads. In theory, BHA is an acid and should help remove dead skin and gunk with regular use, but it also has to be gentle enough for daily use. I admit that this is quite gentle but I guess I still prefer my blackhead products with a bit of rough texture so that I feel like my skin is exfoliated. Does that sound weird? 😂

   A'bloom Meringue Puffs
Are these food? NO! These lovely and cute, pastel-coloured, meringue-shaped puffs are actually makeup sponges! Now, I used to use my hands to apply my makeup but ever since discovering the Beauty Blender, I've never looked back. Makeup sponges are an essential part of my makeup routine now and I'm thrilled to try out this first beauty tool from A'bloom by Althea, inspired by meringue cookies. The A'bloom Meringue Puffs are made of non-latex sponge with hydrophilic properties which will grow 1.5 times bigger than normal size. The description claims that you can achieve perfect skin makeup when you apply with these babies.

The Giant Meringue Puff is used to do your base makeup (primers, foundation) and provides a quick and smooth makeup application, thanks to its wide surface.

I could only show you the comparison of soaked and non-soaked sponges on the Baby Meringue Puffs, see what a difference soaking it in water makes? The baby puffs are used to blend out your concealer on undereyes, nose or acne areas. The detailed edges will help you reach those hard-to-reach-areas easily. TIP: These puffs work so well when used with the Althea  Exclusive Flawless Creamy Concealer

I noticed that many girls still don't know how to fully utilise the makeup sponge. Technically, you can use the puff when it's not soaked in water to achieve a matte finish makeup (I personally find that even when it's not soaked, the sponge is already quite big), but I prefer to soak the puff in water, wait for it to get bigger and squeeze out the water before applying on the face for a moist and glossy skin effect.

Among the A'bloom products, I would say my favourite would be the masks, followed by the beauty puffs. The BHA Blackhead Buster sadly doesn't cut it for me, but then again it might be just me. Hope you all have a better idea on the products now and if you're just starting out, this brand is great for those who are on a budget but are looking for something cute and effective!
