Carinn x OOTD/ Fashion: A Lesson in Layering Clothes [Tokyo Luxey]

Happy Sunday! I apologise for missing my outfit post on Friday due to assignments and fatigue from travelling back to JB. ._. not like anyone cares. To make up for it, here's a How-to post on Layering Clothes!

It's my first time doing an outfit tutorial. Usually I just give little tips as we go along but here's a full post on layering your clothes to take it from day to night. This is also in conjunction with my submission to Tokyo Luxey's Social Media Contest aka the Luxe Contest 2014. Tokyo Luxey is a community for beauty and fashion bloggers to discuss and share their thoughts. They are from Japan and also carries beauty products from Japan! The objective of the contest is to post to various social media sites about fashion and beauty, and to get to know more about fellow Luxeys. I think it's a great idea so I decided to join in the fun!

Let's take a plain white bodycon dress or long tank as the base clothing. I got mine from H&M. It's always simpler to use a plain and simple dress or shirt as the base because they're so versatile and easy to match with anything! Ya ok I know I kinda play cheat wan XD

For a look that's suitable for the daytime or college, I paired my white dress with a oxblood knitted sweater from H&M. Now the dress acts as a bodycon skirt and no one will know you're wearing a dress underneath! :p The sweater also makes the outfit more conservative so you won't get into trouble in school. Plus, it's so comfy and keeps you warm in class, without looking too sloppy. You can pair it with a long necklace or bracelet too for a more put-together look.

Take your daytime outfit into the night and wear it with a checkered shirt! Just realised most of my clothes are from H&M cos I got this shirt from that store too. XD Instead of the conventional shirt with jeans, why not try it as an outerwear for your dress instead? The long top perfectly covers any "revealing" places, I would say. Roll up the sleeves and slap on some dark-coloured lipstick for a badass look. Now you're ready for a night out!

Alternatively, you can just tie the shirt around your waist when it gets too hot. This jacket-around-the-waist trend used to be popular in the 90's and guess what, it's back! There's nothing wrong with only utilising your shirt as an accessory. It is advised to layer your necklaces or just use a statement necklace like me. I love this one that I thrifted from Carousell for only RM10. According to the seller, it's from an online shop, PhatCulture!

So, which look do you like best? I'm sorry this seems to be quite a rushed post but it's the nicest clothes I brought back from KL. Will do a more detailed How-to post in the future if you guys like it! Let me know your thoughts below :) More fashion posts will be coming your way this week! Much loves!
