Beauty: Maybelline Hypersharp Wing Eyeliner

So I got home one day and found a parcel with an adorable wings headband and new eyeliner to try out. Talk about a pleasant surprise! Now tell me, what are some of your eyeliner woes? Mine would be not being able to get the balanced winged eyeliner for both eyes. Luckily for me (and I bet a lot of you girls out there!), Maybelline has recently introduced the Hypersharp Wing Eyeliner for perfect, balanced wings!

I've reviewed the Maybelline Hypersharp Liner - Laser Precision previously and I've mentioned how much I love it and it is also my holy grail eyeliner. You may be wondering, what's so different about this Hypersharp Wing Liner then? From the outside, it looks like any regular Maybelline Hypersharp Liner BUT.. The difference lies in the TIP. This is the first ever 2-in-1 flat tip liner that draws from thin to thick lines with just a twist! So you can see, from this angle, the tip is really quite flat/ 2D.

Show you an animation to explain better. The thick angle, which is also the flat part, measures at 2.00mm. Tilt the liner a little and the side will reveal the thin tip which is 0.01mm only. I swear, this is the same eyeliner!

This latest innovation helps you to get perfectly balanced wings easily, yet still maintains the popular long-lasting waterproof and no-smudge formula of the Hypersharp Liner range. From the swatch, the word "WINGS" itself have different thickness due to the different angles of the 2-in-1 flat tip. Literally 200x difference (0.01mm to 2mm) in just a twist!

Comparing it with the Hypersharp Liner Laser Precision, the tip for the Laser Precision is rounded while the Hypersharp Wing Liner is flatter and firmer.

Because of the marker-like tip, the Hypersharp Wing Liner is sturdier and draws straighter lines as compared to the Hypersharp Laser Precision Liner. However, they both have the same ultra-black and matte finish.

This is how my eyeliner usually looks like on a regular basis. I have to redraw or touch up my eyeliner a few times, especially on the left eye to get the perfect wing. What's more, sometimes I tend to forget to tightline between my lashes so it just looks weird with a tiny gap between my liner and my lashline.

How to use this amazing and special eyeliner? It is in fact, very simple.

First, use the thin side to draw a smooth line on your eyelid. I usually tightline and fill in the gaps between my lashes with the thin tip for better precision too. You can draw over the line a few times to make it as thick or as black as you want.

Next, just twist the eyeliner from the thick tip to the thin tip to create wings at the outer corner of your lid. The flat tip helps you create even wings while the thin side wings it out perfectly! Quick & hassle-free, don't you think?

Even enough for ya? Different eye shapes call for different ways of drawing your cat-eye so find out your eye shape first to get optimum results. For me, I have rounder eyes so elongated wings will help my eyes look longer. I also like to wing my liner upwards to make my eyes more awake.

You just know I had to take a photo with the headband :p I'm pretty satisfied with the results, even though it just feels like drawing with my usual eyeliner haha. Some practice may be required to master the twisting, but you'll soon get the hang of it. As usual, I love the smudge-proof and matte black effect of the Hypersharp liner range so no complaints there! However, the colour does fade off after a few hours so touch-up is required.

What I love:
- Easy to use
- Fun to experiment with and create different looks with the dual-tip
- Smudge-proof, waterproof
- Lovely matte finish
- Easy to remove

What I don't:
- Not really sweat proof
- Doesn't last 24 hours as claimed
- Have to use it in the proper way, or it'll just be like using any regular eyeliner

  1. I am a regular eyeliner user so I usually use this Maybelline Hypersharp Wing Eyeliner for the edge to create a sharp clean wings. The inner and center part i use another eyeliner that has a thicker brush because i like thicker line. Maybelline Hypersharp Wing Eyeliner line is too fine I might have to draw two or three times to create the thickness and volume.

    1. Thanks for sharing, Kelly! I've always envied the way you draw your eyeliner, now I know XD But maybe you could use the thick tip of the Maybelline Hypersharp Wings to draw the inner & centre part instead? Just my 2 cents.
