Carinn x OOTD: A Chequered Affair feat. Jow Fashion

Are you confident? We all have scars, but don't ever let them define you. I'm proud to be wearing this outfit designed by a loving mother and creative designer, Angelle Chang, whose inspiration behind her brand is her son. Angelle's son was born with a left cleft-lip but she wanted people to look at him, not his scars. So, she started JOW Fashion by designing stylish kids wear from traditional Dutch fabric and slowly introduced clothes for grown-ups too to make a difference and inspire everyone to be confident. JOW Junior was nominated for the CFC Youngstars Award by Luna in 2014 and you can watch Angelle's interview here. Trust me, I was truly touched by her passion and love!

This is my first time wearing a matching set outfit, and also my first collaboration with an international designer fashion brand. The best part about this outfit is that it is tailor-made for ME! Yes, Angelle was super sweet and she got my measurements to create one of her pieces that is unique to my body shape & size. <3 All JOW Fashion designs are handmade with care and made with natural fabric from Netherlands, which makes it even more of a worthy cause to support. FYI, JOW Junior walked the Arts Hearts Fashion LA Fashion Week FW/'15 runway this year and have made several headlines in the media as well. She also has designs for girls, boys and men, imagine wearing matching outfits with your daughter or even the whole family!

While her signature pieces have the Dutch flag designs on it, I chose this chequered piece because of the neutral colour and soft eyelet lace to bring out the girly side of me. While I'm not really a fan of puffed sleeves because I think they make me look kiddy,  I've been told by many people that it suits my frame as it makes my shoulders look wider. The top is actually a 'business in the front, party in the back' kinda blouse because it is open-back and is only held together by a button. You could say that this outfit is subtly sexy ;) My accessories, bag and shoes are kept at muted tones too. Simply adore the high-waisted skater skirt as it gives the illusion of a slimmer waist and elongated legs. I'd definitely try on other styles by wearing the top & skirt separately next time!

Kudos to Angelle & JOW Fashion for sending a message of hope and making the world a better place through fashion. I hope I've worn this well enough and hopefully, this brand has inspired you a little. Perhaps you'd like to gimme a HYPE on Lookbook? :)
