Carinn x Invisalign: Adding the Bottom Attachments

After so long, I finally went for another follow-up on my teeth. After my previous post regarding the current state of my teeth, I'm really starting to see and feel prgreass! Who knew two pieces of clear plastic aligners could be so effective huh? Hmm.. I wonder what's in store for me today?

Finally I'm getting my bottom attachments done! In case you've forgetten what attachments are and how the process works, you can read about it HERE. Attachments actively help teeth to move by pushing it to the desired position. It also helps aligners grip on better. Dr Matthew and a practicing dental student helped me to do the etching, adding of composite resin (to smoothen the surface) and conditioning (the glue). The glue also helps to roughen the surface.

Next, light curing is done with UV light to ensure the bond fully hardens and forms the attachment. The nurse will usually hold up a red plastic sheet to shield my eyes from the bright light. For the bottom attachments, the process was fairly quick as it all stuck on properly. Dr Matthew replaced the old broken attachments for my upper teeth as well, but it kept falling off. We finally got it right on the third time, phew! According to Dr Matthew, it may be due to the bite of the quality of the teeth that the attachment refused to stay on.

I was told to bite firmly onto the chewie to ensure the attachment is fitted tightly and correctly. Dr Matthew is super attentive wan, he makes sure all his patients wear this hip protective eyewear to avoid discomfort from the light above the chair.

Ok done! I have a total of 6 attachments on my bottom row of teeth, 2 are on the same molar. It's really not obvious at all if compared to the top row of teeth, so I chose to have it on the outside. I wasn't used to the feeling for about a week though, felt like there was something obstructing me and I couldn't close my mouth fully haha.

Finally, a photo with Dr Matthew Hong! Thank you for taking such good care of my teeth and trying your best to make each consultation as comfortable as possible. Btw, GOOD NEWS GUYS! Dr Matthew is giving 10% OFF all Invisalign services at his clinic (Q&M Dental Surgery @ Taman Molek) when you quote my name "CARINN10" from now until 31st December 2015. If you're interested in getting Invisalign done too, now's your chance!
