Totally did not expect such a cozy setting when I arrived for Hotel Granada @ Bukit Indah's first ever Cocktail Lunch Date with Media. FYI, Hotel Granada, managed by Care Luxury Hotels & Resorts, is a 4-Star Business Class Hotel where business and leisure meets, with well-trained staff and located near major attractions in Johor Bahru. As you can see, the decor and also music in the ballroom was influenced by Middle East culture. This was pretty apt to suit the theme as throughout the holy Ramadan month, Olla Restaurant at Hotel Granada will be delighting your tastebuds with a carefully crafted selection of mouth-watering Middle Eastern Buffet Spread.
Starting with refreshments and 'Kurma', guests can enjoy a wide selection of local cuisines, including these few highlighted main dishes. The eclectic range of Middle Eastern flavours paired with live entertainment, Ghazal performance by Nakustika Concept, will be sure to immerse you in a whole new dining experience.
Diners can also watch the Chefs in action at the live cooking stalls. Pictured here is the head chef demonstrating how to prepare the first dish, Tandoori Chicken Kebab with Raita. He is also the man responsible for coming up with these creative and tasty dishes for the Ramadan menu. We got to sample only a few of the main Middle Eastern dishes served at the buffet, but there's actually more!
Tandoori Chicken Kebab with Raita
Tantalizing Tandoori chicken, roasted in a charcoal grill, really brings out the flavours of the spices. The chef's idea of combining tender chicken bits with fresh vegetables and mayonnaise in a soft Raita bread really brings the dish together. It's also easier to eat this way as all the ingredients can be tasted in one bite. Great appetizer to start the meal!
Hummus (Chickpeas) Tahini Beef SkewersThis next dish is sadly, something that I can't eat but my bf, who happened to be my plus one, loves it because the meat was so tender.
Moroccan Khurus (Lamb)
One of my favourite dishes that day, the Moroccan Lamb that is sooo tender and fragrant. You can tell a lot of spices have been added to this dish and it is just so succulent. It's not too spicy as well. However, each piece of meat are really big and cooked with the bone, would prefer smaller bite-sized pieces, but that's just my personal preference.
Of course, every meat dish has to be paired with something and it is recommended to pair the Moroccan Khusus with this fluffy Briyani Rice packed with nuts & raisins, or Paratha bread to invoke one's palette. The gravy from the lamb goes really well with rice!
Crockpot Jambalaya Chicken
These two dishes are a match-made in heaven with the juicy chicken pieces paired with freshly cooked Jambalaya rice. Notice that the rice grains used are longer, like basmati rice. The chicken which has been slow-cooked in the crockpot is absolutely tantalising, even kids will enjoy it!
During the meal, we were entertained with speeches from the Care Luxury team and after that, we got to enjoy some freshly cut fruits as well.
